Curved Yellow Billau Deck

Raised Decking with Cheshire Brick Steps

This decking has been built with sweeping Cheshire brick steps leading into a broad Cheshire brick wall. Cheshire brick is very much in keeping with the ‘cottage garden’ feel of this space. The decking itself has been raised to the level of the banking at the end of the garden and allows for a fabulous view over the fields and woodland behind the house, a really peaceful place to sit and relax. Prior to building the decking, the view had been obscured by a disused greenhouse and overgrown shrubbery.

Our customers commissioned us to build decking to convert their sizeable but rather disheveled garden into a contemporary space for socialising and relaxing.

The main challenges of this space were an awkward triangular corner, and a garden that sloped away from the house. The addition of a beautiful curved fence, made from smooth planed cedarwood, provides a real wow factor and disguises the awkward garden shape.

The deck itself is a step down from the rest of the garden turning a problematic slope into a unique point of interest. The deck boards are yellow Bilau, a beautiful hardwood from Malaysia. The soft warm colours of from these quality woods are complemented perfectly by the Chinese sandstone and white rendered planters. Top it all off with integrated lighting and you have the perfect place for a party!

This decking was made from grade 1 ipe, which is a beautiful durable hardwood. This fabulous split level circular deck was built flush with the bifold doors, enabling seamless integration of the two spaces on a sunny day. The lower circular area can hold table and chairs without any detriment to the view from the house. The Cheshire brick planters contain standard box trees and box hedging creating a timeless, classic look. There is also integral lighting to ensure this space can be enjoyed during the evenings as well as sunny days.
